On edit: I realize that the Republican response is to pull out clips from Al Franken's days on SNL, but two things come to mind. First, while she is just acting, she's playing herself -- which is just weird. Second, Franken is a truly brilliant guy who has been involved in politics for years.

I'm not comparing her to Sen. Franken in any way, but did want to mention the point to head off any unfair comparisons.

Which is why I try to have as few republicans in my life as possible. This is not only an example of classic republican mentality, but if anything, most are a few notches below this.

Conservatives believe this is the real thing -- along with supply-side economics, Jesus riding his pet dinosaur, global warming is just a liberal plot, there's 287 Communists working in the State Department, Milton Friedman is a genius, George Bush is an avid reader, crime is up in Arizona, and Lindsey Graham is a ladies' man.

Had you not mentioned Al Franken, they never would have made any connection, because although he was on TV, they never got any of his jokes. Half of the dimwits that will vote for her will do so because she looks tough in this video, and they want someone like that kicking people in Washington around for them. Even if they had a front row seat to see her fakery and her working for the haves and the have-mores, they would still like it, because they want that kind of a Senator when they win the Lotto. They would be dumb enough to sit through a stump speech given by a box of rocks.
