I hear people make false equivalencies all the time, but that has got to take the cake. I have to totally thank you because now I have what may be the best example of a false equivalency that I have ever hear. For people who are not even clear of what the term "false equivalency" means, I thinkt that if I use the example you used here, it will make perfect sense. Richards was just a raving lunatic. His racism was naked, though he didn't, in the words he used, encourage others to pick up where he left off.

Laura actually encourages people to use racist language. She cloaks her racism in the language of false equivalences, to use your language, so that it appears she is doing what others are doing, while in reality, and she knows it, she is encouraging people to perpetuate racism. She is insidiously evil.
