Democracy in action today in my hometown of Des Moines! Members of Iowa C.C.I. (Citizens for Community Improvement) Demanding Pat Boddy, interim director of the DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources), enforce stricter restrictions on the spreading of liquid manure on frozen fields. Massive loop holes exist in current law making it still legal to use this practice. Iowa's water ways are some of the worst in the nation because of it. Part three shows the delivery of the petition to Ms. Boddy
My favorite part of part one is at about the 7 minute mark,, "Urban and rural united!!" C.C.I. is a great grassroots org. with many spirited and informed members, a great group of people from across the state who care about their communities and environments.
There are four parts, and I apologize for the shaky footage and sketchy sound in parts; filmmaker is not my day job. :)
We actually went to Governor Chet Culver's (not in) office, which is across the street at the state capitol, but my memory card filled up quick so I didn't get the footage, but in part four you see us marching into the capitol building - lots of chanting.
Was a fun day.
