"We did put a lot of hope in the Obama administration that things would improve; in fact, things have gotten worse, unfortunately. Under President Obama we've seen a lot of backsliding on the whaling issue and other environmental issues which is really, really quite surprising. The United States was very steadfast on its support for whales through the Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush eras -- for like 30 years. This is the frst year that the U.S. government has betrayed the whales and its very interesting it happened by a president who said before he was elected that that was one of his main concerns and that he was going to make sure that the U.S. position was not weakened, and then suddenly it was weakened and he has no explanation for that."

"Obama, I'm afraid, has been a total disaster for the U.S. public."
