WikiLeaks to apply for Swedish licence

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has revealed that he will submit a formal application this week for a Swedish publishing licence (utgivningsbevis) in order to guarantee that the website is covered by Swedish whistleblower protection laws.

3. I have a problem with this guy...

If he wanted to really do something that would shake up the world, why not go after documents uncovering CORPORATE malfeasance, such as what happened to the lost 100s of millions in Iraq, what gets spent by companies overseas, what gets covered up by companies, etc.. instead of CIA secrets?

Our government is relatively open, so it's a pretty easy target. Not saying he didn't unearth shocking discoveries, but there is so much more to learn about how the world works and much of it related to money, not government collusion.

I suspect if he did, he would almost certainly be dead by now. You can shout at the US Government all you want but as soon as you follow the money trail, you're toast.

Maybe you do not understand how a whistle blower site works. Someone with knowledge of wrong doing and contacts a site such as Wikileaks. Then the site determines if that information is credible. If so, then that information is then put up on the site for all to see. Maybe you have such knowledge of some corporate malfeasance. If so, be a man, or woman, and contact a whistle blower site. If your information can be corroborated, I am sure it will see the light of day.

5. He's upset the spin machine's hubris.

It's a warning to be discredited personally, harangued. The network of influence is twisting arms so he will think long and hard if any other leaks come his way. Remember Valerie Plame et al. It's a pattern. Confirms the theory of a shadow govt.
