Anyone have any idea if you have to be a union member to get a bus ride?

1. We should also march in every town & city - The corporate republicans have all
Edited on Fri Sep-03-10 02:43 PM by GreenTea
but destroyed unions - If republicans had their way they would outlaw all workers unions complete (and they are trying) - Unions are the workers ONLY untied voice against the money hungry corporations who more & more & more profits and workers stand in the way of every nickel more....If corporations & republicans could get away with it, we would all be slaves creating profits only for the very few owners.

Should workers have a right to form a union to negotiate better pay, health care better conditions and safety?

Or should no two workers even be allowed to get together any negotiate? corporations should have all the power and dictate what they want to pay/

Republican always create more unemployment when they are in power creating a large unemployed workers pool, to pay desperate unemployed workers as little as possible - Union fight against that and are why they are despised by the corporate republican party....then they just by pass the American workers & unions by out sourcing our jobs and hiring masses of undocumented workers and non union workers for a tiny fraction of what's fair and the massive profits & bonuses they are reaping in...While STILL getting American tax breaks, subsides and government contracts while they discard American workers who want to work but for at least for decent pay.

Corporations say NO - because paying workers fairly will hurt and takes away a our profit margin and 100 million dollar salaries.

The republican party's war on unions in favor of corporate profit really began with the asshole neocon union busting Reagan....Now only 7% of the country is unionized, when there was a strong unions in this country there was also a thriving middle-class....no coincidence.

But corporations wanted more & more - They received huge tax cuts but the greedy corporations still wanted more & more so they went after the union workers and the unions themselves who were fighting for fair wages for it's workers as corporations were reaping in billions of dollars from the workers sweat and skills...

Unions were fighting for workers to have pensions better medical & dental plans, overtime pay, worker safety on the job and finally sick pay & vacation pay...Republicans & corporations fought against this with their huge lobbying teams, out sourced jobs, hiring undocumented workers, hiring scabs anything to bust the union and good paying jobs that was taking away from the corporations profits...

It's not like the corporation were not making huge profits before - they just wanted more & more and just said fuck the American workers - The corporations want it ALL!

4. And, right now, Obama is trying to destroy the teacher's union.
Remember the poem about how they first came after the Jews. Well, they first came after the air traffic controllers. Now, it's teachers' turn to take drastic cuts in pay and worsening of working conditions. And Obama is leading the fight against teachers.

I really support this march provided that it is not simply a glossing over of the problems with Obama. Obama needs to support ordinary Americans and spend less time worrying about the bankers.

7. Suggesting we need to change the way we do things now isn't
necessarily an attack on the teachers' unions. Others must agree, or why would these people be supporting the march?

2. It is so good seeing unions take a stand. They represent the
working backbone of this country. We are the people, not corporations, talk show grandstanders nor self serving politicians. I hope this is one impressive gathering. No you don't have to be a union member to get on a bus.

3. We should have events all over "the Nation" to support this...
Those unions are all over the place... there's no reason we couldn't get that size crowd in all the major cities of the Nation!
