... decided to go after the banks for making risky loans that wound up costing the city a bundle.

Shortly thereafter she was ousted on a very peculiar ethics charge. She apparently swiped some gift vouchers intended for low-income residents.

It's possible that she was mixed up enough to do something like this -- after all, rich people get arrested for shoplifting, for example -- but as Dennis Kucinich and Elliot Spitzer could've told her, it's very risky (and sometimes even deadly) to try to fight back against the abuses of banks.
