Democrats launch TV ad targeting Boehner's ties to lobbyists

Democrats on Tuesday released their second national TV ad in a week targeting House Minority Leader John Boehner.

The new ad hist Boehner (R-Ohio) on his ties to business, and follows a story published by The New York Times on Sunday about the Republican leader's relationship with lobbyists and business groups.

The Democratic National Committee's ad accuses Boehner, who would be the House Speaker if Republicans win back the majority this fall, of being "a speaker for big-time lobbyists." The spot is entitled "Boehner Land."

Democrats from President Obama down have worked hard over the past week to elevate Boehner as the face of the Republican party in the hope that this will rally their base to the polls. Surveys suggest Democrats could face a wave election that would knock out their majorities in the House and possibly the Senate.

The new TV spot will rotate with the other ad, "You're Welcome," targeting Boehner on jobs and the economy, in a rotation of ads on national cable beginning on Tuesday, and running roughly for a week.

considering the nasty attacks coming from the the other side about Speaker Pelosi, this is too polite.

2. We still keep bringing water pistols to a knife fight

The only content that the unwashed knuckleheads listen to is one that is emotionally satisfying and grabs them by the throat, reinforcing their own fears and prejudices. This is why the Rethugs have been so successful with their political advertising (nee Willy Horton). Instead we still keep putting up polite, rational, soft-spoken ads which do nothing for anyone who isn't already a committed Democrat. If I were King (and believe me, there are lots and LOTS of people who are infinitely glad that I'm not), I would have done the ad this way:

1 - THEME: John Boehner REALLY WANTS TO BE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE. SUPPORTING NARRATIVE: That's all he cares about? Why? To help his corporate masters.
2 - THEME: Who is the REAL John Boehner? SUPPORTING NARRATIVE: A Rethug member of Congress who's been in bed with corporate lobbyists for years and years - 45 trips in Corporate jets, 117 (or whatever the correct number is) of days on the golf course instead of in Congress, so corrupt that he actually handed out lobbyist checks ON THE FLOOR OF CONGRESS! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
3- THEME: America just can't afford to have a man like Boehner Speaker of the House. SUPPORTING NARRATIVE: Reject the Rethug culture of corporate corruption and vote for Democrats this November.
