Communist, fascist, Muslim. All mean that he's not one of "us" real Americans. That is, he's not white, conservative, up-tight, sexually repressed, Christian and with a sense of entitlement to be in charge. So yeah, an uppity n****r.

He is still using it as a term denoting disrespect. For me, I am of the opinion that word needs to lose its power and making it taboo to half the population does not do that as it perpetuates the underlying connection of black as inferior.

Turning the n word into "black is cool" would be a better tack.

I'm not a big fan as I find his arrogance intolerable at times, however I appreciate his "go for it." His use of the n-word was appropriate and in proper context.

You don't see Jews going around calling themselves denigrating words or Italians. Those words aren't even accepted in the public discourse. So why is the N-word? I don't care if it's Maher, Jay-Z, or Dr.Laura.
