Republicans want to lower the corporate tax rate to about 5.25% in order to allow companies to bring the money that they've hidden in offshore tax havens back to our country, where they will then use it to create jobs and help our economy. On paper that sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, their idea is rooted in the false belief that corporations care about American workers, which their actions prove they couldn't care less about Main Street America. Mike Papantonio takes on 4 right wing mouthpieces who blindly support Wall Street's continuous rape of America.

2. 2 points missed: 1. why did corps hide all this $$$ offshore in the first place?

And: 2. Who's to guarantee that this 'repatriated' money won't end up (as happened in the bailout)
as billions in bonuses paid to corp executives?

4. Yes, the law does need to be changed.
So that these corporations can not out source any more American jobs. The off shore profits? A one time tax cut if they use all of the funds to create American jobs.
Why can't we look at Europe and see how they keep competing with China and keep Labor Unions very strong, good pay and benefits?
Fuck capitalism...let's try Democracy and see how that works....

5. Your last sentence says it all.
The American Way is DEMOCRACY, not capitalism. Capitalism is only supposed to be the economic engine, not a replacement for our system of self-government. Capitalism must work INSIDE OF democracy.

Thinking of a car metaphor: What good is an engine without a guidance system?

6. Seriously,
My 14 year old son asked me that last week. Do we live in a Democracy or a capitalist society? I tried to explain that one was our form of government (Actually a republic democracy, we elect a few to represent many) and the other was our form of economy. It rang hollow to both of us...
