With midterm elections in the US about to begin, RT has spoken with 4-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader about the real powers that govern America. Ralph Nader does not belong to either of the two parties ruling Congress. Nader believes that Theodore Dreiser put it very well many years ago, when he said that "the corporations are the government".

11. Do you have some substantive criticism of his position?
You can attack him all you like, but is there anything as far as an argument you can give as to why he's wrong?

8. Speak for yourself. He has been right all along. He will
be remembered in history for his attempts to warn the people about a government that is totally bought and paid for.

:kick: for Nader. The Wealthy Elite just bought another election. Billions spent to put their employees in power.

Next on their agenda, privatize Social Security. They've nearly completed their list, SS has been the most difficult, but now they are close to getting that crossed off the list.

When Americans start acting like the French, maybe the people can regain some of the power they lost. But Nader is right. How can anyone doubt it when you see the money that is spent on these elections? It is obscene.

10. exactly
anyone who just wishes that nader would go away, saying he's no longer relevant and what not are doing EXACTLY what the other side wants us to do. marginalize those out there who know what's going on and have the spine to say it. Does anyone here really not agree with even half of what he says? nader is the ultimate liberal and its a shame people treat him the way they do, all because Gore didn't run a campaign as smart as he should have. it never should have come down to a rigged election in florida.

13. All along.
He's been warning us about this shit for decades. He hasn't lost relevance, the corporation have shifted the debate back where they like it.

Gutting Social Security will become easier as we proceed into the 21st century. As the younger generations approach retirement age, SS seems less and less real. Soon it will be all too easy to wipe it out completely. Congress has been raiding it for years. As we approach the point where the output will be greater than the income, what should be several decades of accumulated surplus will, catastrophically, be a zero balance. Once that happens, it will all be borrowed money anyway, so it's just a short step to scrapping it completely.

9. Hokie && FSogol - you prove your stupidity,.
attacking the messenger and ignoring the message,. oldest dumb-ass rhetorical looser move going! If you have nothing to say about what is said,. i.e that adds to the debated issue,. then you really should heed your own words and STFU.

The man is fully correct on both points. Obama is just another war monger,. in a long line. ACTIONS people, not words, are the issue,. and Obama has done nothing to improve the war mongering and has only made it worse. (un-maned airial drones killing large groups of civilians, really?? Are you for this?!?!) The fact is that now more than ever before "the corporations are the government". There are minor policy differences between the two wings of the one corporate party,. but none that really make any difference. Change will not come till the whole system implodes on itself,. well at least it should be an interesting fall to dust. Good luck.

14. He has been right all along
and if the Democrats had listened at all they might have prevented this. Instead they incorporated much of what he is warning about into the party and now look where they are.

To ignore this man is stupid. Is this still about Gore? If it is it is really stupid.

18. Ralph Nader has been ahead of his time
I don't think people were ready to hear about the corporations back in 2000.

I blamed him too for being a spoiler in 2000, but I think we need every progressive voice out there we can get.

16. Fuck Ralph Nader. Can't he just focus on what he cares about, NBA officiating?
Flouride in toothpaste?

His limo pickup?

Everytime he opens his very, very, very, very, very, very stupid mouth, which is located somewhere under his trousers a few hundred thousand people die.

Fuck him.

19. Well, if the only thing that matters to you is the NBA playoffs, I guess he would be your man.
That's what Ralph was most concerned about when the rest of us - those who give a fuck - were out trying to stop the war that the NBA asshats - tripe from the deservedly powerless - were sitting on their brains eating popcorn and watching TV.

You'd have to be pretty Bush league to take Nader for a hero. The only thing he ever did was to make a killing on his Ford stock in the 1960's and, um, oh yeah, inspire the wits out of the already witless.

21. He also helped create that which he is fighting
I had great respect for Mr. Nader. When he insisted on running in 2000 he brought Bush to power.
There is a time to stand on principle, and a time to be pragmatic. Sadly, his ego won and his
decision shaped the political landscape he rails against. To quote Bush, "elections have consquences"
too bad Ralphie missed that in 2000

30. There is also a time when people need to understand this is still a democracy...
... and people have a constitutional right to run for elected office.

As convenient as Mr. Nader is for some Dems as a scapegoat for their FUBARing of the 2000 election, these nonsensical arguments are starting to get a little bit old. Besides the lack of basic math skills, I don't think many of you understand the ultimate consequences of the logic you are applying which advocates for the entitlement to other people's votes and the limiting of who (and when) people can run for office.

29. Iraq For Sale - The War Profiteers
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7914117733846316477#

Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers is the story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to war. Acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed and Uncovered) takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who allow them to do so. Brave New Films are both funded and distributed completely outside corporate America. Over 3000 people donated to make Iraq for Sale, and it is up to you to distribute it. Give copies to co-workers and organize a screening in your neighborhood. Get involved!! http://iraqforsale.org/
