1. pot haters out in force???
this thing was at 5 recs, then suddenly under 5 again. you know what, i have smoked grass since i was 14, for the past 17 years i have smoked and ihave grown for the past 5. i have been to jail once and found innocent because my lawyer bribed the judge. i will never stop smoking, growing, selling and giving away this awesome weed and the great hash that comes from it. i would prefer to be left to my own freedom but if your laws make me a criminal i still will not stop, i dont fucking care, your laws will not compell me to alter my state of mind with shitty dangerous alcohol

5. Sadly people are so easily lied to about things like pot.
the propaganda war on drugs seems to have worked eh,. I agree with reggie you will never stop those of us who know how great a plant it is from using it,. smoking flowers! and yet these same dim-witted fools support big pharma, and the war machine?? what logic to they employ when voting?? once again I am compelled to say "fck all y'all". I will just do what I know is right and if you want to support this control system that makes that illegal, while it supports actual killers warmongers, and pushers of drugs that actually harm people and our society,. then you go fool. just ain't no stopin' the idiot masses while they are suckling on the corporate tit.

9. Prop 19 had more money to spend on ads
than did opponents, but liberals have no freakin' clue how to make effective advertisements. For instance, opponents showed ads with people going to work stoned and getting in car crashes while driving stoned. Proponents could have made ads talking about how drug cartels are killing innocents and how legalizing pot would be a huge economic boon to California, but they squandered the opportunity by not making hard-hitting ads.

4. Not sure how true it was because I'm in Florida but I had heard
some talk of the corporatization of MJ had turned some voters off.
If true that was where the money came from for it but Cenk is 100% correct the right ads were not run. Has the fact that it did not pass going to make it easier on medical MJ users? That was another topic I had 'heard' that it would make it difficult as the DEA would be back in Cali busting legal medical MJ suppliers as they did under Bush.

I am a smoker and would love to have access to good quality smoke without having to deal with people of questionable nature to get my supply. I do want it legal and am OK with it being managed like beer or cigs.

The #1 issue that I have with all of this is the people doing time for pot. 3 strike states for example, UAs done on people before jobs or if on probation it would send them back to jail. Just the whole nature of prohibition.

The DEA was very much against legalization which is the biggest reason to legalize it. Clearly there is money in it for the DEA and any honest ex-DEA officer will tell you how illegal the DEAs activities can be from money never put into evidence, taking amounts before it's put into evidence etc. That happens a lot with regular cops too. They bust their butt and risk their life to enforce bs laws and do so for peanuts - the temptation is at times to great to pocket money off the top when you know the work you are doing is pointless. (check out LEAP and nevergetbusted.com)

We just need to END prohibition.

Cheers
Sandy

8. K&R. Cenk summarizes this issue succinctly and well.
But, like on so many current issues (health care comes to mind), the opposition was successful in scaring voters... :(

10. It failed for the same reason the Pukes won the house.
Because people who felt betrayed by Obama stayed home in disgust - and that's a lot of people.

13. >^..^<
There's no democracy here. The vote is rigged. Prop 19 was planned to fail from the start. Just like the repubs gaining so may seats while the media predicted and brainwashed people into accepting this months ago. How people can trust voting is beyond my comprehension. Are americans THAT naive or so cowardly that prefer to live as slaves willfully blind?
