1. Which raises the questions
Why do they continue to fight it?

and

Why did everyone, the world over, buy into such crap in the first place?

7. Follow the money to the instigators, yes
But shouldn't a higher percentage of the public all over the world be just a little smarter and saner than to jump on the bandwagon?

9. I don't think "the public" is responsible.
They are guilty of listening to those in authority. That's where the stupid shit comes from.

10. If the public blindly listens to authority, then you don't really have democracy

12. Exactly. Brings us back to "people believe stupid shit."
In reality, there are some simple principles at work. People believe what their elders tell them instinctively, especially at a young age. And most people do not have the time or background to fully understand the issues that affect their lives. They may vest their decisions in a party, or a brand name, or a guru. But that's how people roll.

11. Explains why the bosses do it
Doesn't explain why Joe Sixpack wants pot-smokers arrested.

15. Joe Sixpack believes the propaganda
Beginning with Maryjane will make you pregnant, will make you a serial killer, will make you insane, is dangerous to your health, lies add infinitum.

3. when i moved to france7.5 years ago
leagalization of grass was a fringe issue, now grass and all drug legalization is a respectable debate, this spring it wasnt the case, but in the past 6 months there has been a huge change and i think that prop 19 had a lot to do with it as that was in the news a lot, combined with a study of portugal's legalization that was in nouvel observateur this summer....... in a few years my garden will be legal...

6. just do it illegally
the first couple of years you hardly get any harvest at all as you learn how to grow the stuff, where not to plant it (thieves, floods, animals eating plants). a flood took all but one of my plants this year, worst flood in over 200 years..... gonna try next year just the same, one year it will be legal and out on the balcony or in the yard if i have one by then.

16. That's the stupidity of it...it's shockingly bad policy and governing
to continue to throw money into a system so big a failure. But that's what happens when Machiavellian politics dominates your nation's philosophy of governance.
