1. I see no problem

with it being read.
Realistically they (Congress) are taking an OATH to PROTECT AND DEFEND that very document and all it stands for.
They are elected by the people to serve the people.
The Declaration, Bill of Rights and US Constitution is the trifecta upon which this great nation was founded on.

Asking it to be read - to refresh some memories is a good thing.
At least something got read... :)

But it is all about the interpretation> And seeing as the SCOTUS can declare anything constitutional just by a majority vote (see citizen united), we are all at their mercy. Lets hope strike down the health insurance mandate cos am afraid what the republican would do with the precedent it sets, maybe we all would be forced to buy firearms from lockhead martins for the "general welfare" of the society
