Democracy Now! spoke with Tucson shooting survivor Eric Fuller. A 63-year-old disabled veteran, Fuller had campaigned for Arizona Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in her reelection campaign and was at the supermarket in Tucson on Saturday to meet with her. He was shot in the knee and also wounded in the back. "It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target," Fuller says. "Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled."

Ariz. shooting victim arrested, taken to hospital


TUCSON, Ariz. – Grief-stricken after the Tucson supermarket massacre, shooting victim James Eric Fuller found comfort writing down the Declaration of Independence from memory while still recovering in the hospital.

The self-described liberal and military veteran became distraught Saturday, authorities said, when he began ranting at the end of a televised town hall meeting about the tragedy. He took a picture of a local tea party leader and yelled "you're dead" before calling others in the church a bunch of "whores," authorities said.

Deputies arrested him and called a doctor. They decided he should be taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation, said Pima County sheriff's spokesman Jason Ogan said.

No one answered the door Sunday at Fuller's home.

Fuller was one of 19 people shot at a Safeway store Jan. 8. Six people died and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was critically injured with a bullet wound to the head.

In media interviews and on the Internet, Fuller, a former limousine driver and Census worker, has said he worked hard to get Giffords re-elected in her conservative-leaning district. He was going over questions he had prepared for the congresswoman, wondering whether they were worthy, when the shooting began, he said in an interview with the television show "Democracy Now."

He was shot in the knee and back and drove himself to the hospital, where he spent two days.

Reporting from the Faux studio, Geraldo told Faux viewers only that Fuller was "a liberal". Apparently, it wasn't important that Fuller was shot in the incident.

He was just an "angry liberal," you see. No real reason for his anger. Just a crazy liberal making threats.

6. Tucson shooting victim apologizes for outburst during meeting

TUCSON - One of the men wounded in a Jan. 8 mass shooting in Tucson apologized Monday for an outburst at a town hall meeting.

James Eric Fuller started ranting at the end of the program Saturday, then took a picture of a "tea party" leader and yelled "you're dead."

Fuller apologized through his girlfriend, Dorothy Deruyter. He has been in a hospital since being involuntarily committed Saturday for a mental health evaluation but wrote a statement and called Deruyter.


Fuller apologized for his "misplaced outrage."

When you see people like Kelly put adverts in papers and talk to crowds who think similarly the answer
in my opinion is lack of education and logic, or they are fully aware of what they are saying with hopes
their plans come to fruition as it did last week.
When you talk to and hear the mentality of gun lovers and ask why do you think it necessary to own
automatic weapons their only reply is it's my second amendment right. This may have been fine in the time
of our forefathers but it's 2011, a different world where people are less educated and follow blindly those who
talk the same talk as they do.
Why can't gun lovers go to a range and rent an AK 47 to shoot, why must they own one ? Because they are lunatics
and if you've ever tired to reason with an uneducated constitutionalist you're wasting your time. They are delusional
and believe liberals or independents, if there need be labels, are the ones who are crazy. But who's doing the shooting
and who's massing arsenals of guns ?
