that MLK was not only about racial equality. He also declared a war on poverty. He was vilified by by the elite and, of course, even then, the majority were propagandized to believe that he was un-American. Because of his civil rights battles, but IMO, mainly because of his battle for economic equality. Of course, "they" focused on his message of racial equality because this was much easier to target him as a "trouble maker" and stir up the dyed in the wool racists that were the majority in those days. I guess they don't teach that Dr. King was not always monogamous. Last night, my 4.0 GPA college senior, daughter asked me if that was true, she had never been taught that in school. I confirmed that it was true. She said that because of that she had less respect for the man. My daughter is a smart young idealist, but I regret that because of this (I assume) currently little taught fact, the message was compromised by a perceived weakness of the messenger. Yes, he was human. He sometimes made questionable personal decisions. To me, his legacy will always be about equality, civil and economic, for all.
