Gil Smart asks: If our discourse is to become more civil, does that leave room for Sarah Palin?

1. I'm sorry, but her rhetoric DID cause that.

I'm not about to let her skate away from taking some responsibility for "Obama is pallin' around with terrists", or "real americans like you and me" or "don't retreat: reload!". Her whole shtick is division. She's steeped in it. She and her husband belonged to the Alaskan Separatists movement, so she knows a thing or two about driving wedges and dividing people. Nothing about her speaks to unity and ALL of us Americans having equal worth: only white xtians conservatives have lives of worth to her; and those who think like her are so far up in her ass they won't see daylight for another 45 years.

She had a once in a lifetime opportunity to own her rancid behavior and apologize for her part in it, but she chose to do what she can only do: whine and make it all about her being a victim. THE WOMAN IS DANCING ON THE GRAVE OF A 9 YR OLD CHILD FOR ATTENTION SHE DOESN'T DESERVE.

No, She is quite responsible for her rhetoric, for hiring the people who write her speeches for her, for reading the speeches written by said writer and for ok-ing those gun-sight targets on the map on HER website. If she is that clueless as to what the people she's hired to work for her are doing, then how can she be trusted when "that call comes in the middle of the night to the POTUS"?

2. And that brings us to another fact, the Republicans have no interest in governing.
Their interest is only in power. So, yes, they can continue the "politics of grievance".
