As did McCain and all right wing talking heads later on in 2008. Youtube is riddled with these clips of Obama standing firm with this policy, which has born some rather seriously tasty fruit. Plenty of ammo for his "strong on security" ad for next year.

I'd say today he is vindicated. Although we should admit that Secretary Clinton, who criticized him as well for the vow to go into Pakistan if we had actionable intelligence, has obviously gone along with this today.
