as an "Apple never falls far from the tree" thing. Rand Paul (eventually) said what he had to say to get himself elected. (No surprise there) Where did he (Rand Paul) get his political viewpoint from? So now, we're surprised to hear his father believes the same thing? I think I'd be more shocked if daddy took his boy to the public wood shed over this issue. AS to what Rand Paul believes, I think he has to put a finger to the wind before he opens he opens his mouth.

4. Libertarian Utopianism in action...

Big-"L" Libertarians (and others who obsess about the property rights aspects of this) usually deride liberal efforts against discrimination as "utopianism", but they indulge in their own "libertarian utopia" version in the process.

Sure, in the best of all possible worlds the clause in question wouldn't have been necessary, but in that same best world the entire act would not have been necessary. But that wasn't the world we lived in, was it? In the real world the systematic oppression was carried out through legal (Jim Crow laws) and extra-legal (lynching, juries never convicting a white for a crime against a black, etc., including businesses being able to declare "we don't serve your kind") means.

Old Ron was around back then. What was he doing to repeal those laws. What pressure was he putting people and businesses to end the extra-legal methods of repression? I don't recall hearing his name as having gone down in history as one of the prominent voices working for civil rights.

Clueless Monday morning quarterbacking is the most generous way to view him, not that he deserves it.

5. What absurd ideas Ron and Rand have.

Let business do anything and everything they can and want to do. Because we know how great that has worked out so far. The Gulf coast just polluted itself with black crude. The Tokyo nuclear melt down was all the fault of God. The economic crash of 2007, which continues today was all the fault of citizens getting too many loans and none of the bushes war were about corporations getting their hands on oil so they could manipulate the price per gallon to $4.00.

The free market will fix all. You know, like they fixed racism in the South the last time white people developed KKK vigilante hit squads.

You may not like it, but bad government is worse than the so called free market and bad govt is what we have had for the last few decades. Reagan started it and George Bust tried to finish us off with it.

9. There is simply no excuse for Paul's

line of reasoning.

Tea Party, the Republican Party, whatever, they largely subscribe to this bullshit. It's like if the government does it, in the eyes of Ron Paul, it is wrong. But he is ignoring the main point that if we have a representative democracy it is the government that protects our interests or acts in our interest. Surely waiting for corporations to act in our best interest isn't working out so well. One would think these fools would recognize that fact.

When I was a sophomore in college, I sort of espoused a similar libertarian view. Well, it takes more book and life learning to realize that such "idealistic" views have absolutely no place in a real life earth. I can't understand how anyone can vote for such an idiot. The constitution laid out 6 duties that it is to perform, but libertarians want to deny this. How can this so called free market meme they espouse ever bring social justice and equality. It's ludicrous. This is why a democratic republic was formed. Good Lord has he not paid attention to the racism of today where POTUS is concerned? Even with laws racism is alive and well and would be much more rampant had not Civil Rights came about. Biggots would absolutely support establishments that descriminate. He is naive or lives in a vacuum.

1. To form a more perfect Union - The national government will be fair across different state boundaries, helping keep the union together.

2. To establish justice - The government's responsiblity is to protect those who do obey the law and punish those who do not.

3. To insure domestic tranquility - In order that all may lead a tranquil and quiet life, according to their own conscience, in a dignified manner.

4. To provide for the common defense - All life is held as sacred, with the protection of innocent life at the base of capital punishment. The government is to provided an army for protection from external threats.

5. To promote the general welfare - Civil rulers are servants for the general good. All classes of citizens are to be represented equally by any laws the government may pass. The government may not provide or aid special interest groups above others. It is to promote, not provide, for the people.

6. To secure the blessings of liberty - As stated in the Declaration of Independence, blessings are endowed upon men by their creator. These blessings include life, liberty, and property. Government cannot provide these, but it's role is to ensure a person's right to them.

Rand and Ron basically said that its ok to be a racist and deny service and acknowledgement to...BLACKS? Okayyyyyyyy...lets include...Germans...Asians...Mexicans....Italians...Muslims...Indians....Arabs....Cubans....French....Homosexuals.....Bi-sexuals etc. Let's all just leave the US and let the BIGOTTED RACIST put their own people into SLAVERY.
