1. I'm not sure you want to ask me that today. I am reading The Shock

Doctrine by Naomi Klein and I am thinking that America deserves everything we are getting. And I have only read to chapter on torture and the one on the Chicago Model of economics. I will never be able to give my book away - I am writing some pretty explicit comments on the edges of the pages. The thing is I remember living through these events but this is the first time I have seen them in this light.

2. I think this old saw got started in the Vietnam era. Love it or leave it.

Anyone who criticized US foreign policy was helping the enemy and hating America.

Glad Thom called Joe out for filibustering. The righties do that a lot. They keep talking to fill up all the allotted time-- they think it makes them look like they have something to say, and it keeps the other guys from sharing their ideas. Their other technique is to try to sound calm-- gee, what are you upset about? -- they pretend their vapid comfort with lying equals being smarter and more confident in their ideas.

It is also very interesting to me that some of the popular right wingers like David Horowitz and this Joe Hicks were once very far left, if one can believe what they say about themselves. They were communist party members and such. So it was funny to hear Joe Hicks actually refer to Move On as "far left."

told on himself "war on ideas"they are not Conservative that is such a nice word they are addicts addicted to power and suffering look at this guys face he looks like an extreme control freak anything for power..sociapaths.

4. This is the basic problem with conservatives.

And the reason they pose such a great danger to America: They do not believe in the concept of a "loyal opposition", which is the prerequisite for a functional democracy.

People they disagree with are The Enemy and should be - DESERVE TO BE - destroyed. When they rule, dissent is treason. When they're out of power, dissent (often with violence & social disruption) is the only true patriotism. And the ends ALWAYS justify the means. (See Bill Casey & the October Surprise; PNAC and the invasion of Iraq; the engineered economic collapse at the end of the Bush Regime & the Wall Street bailout.)

They say they "love" their country: they may love the tiny portion of American they're familiar with, but they really hate the huge wide crazy quilt of America that most Americans would recognize.
