This report by Channel 4 News political editor Gary Gibbon was produced by Independent Television News and was thus distributed internationally to outlets such as the
PBS NewsHour. The "
news wrap" section of today's
NewsHour showed this report with the following edits:
- (2:10 at C4 video) The soundbite of Obama's closing statement "Faith and the promise of tomorrow let us march straight forward together..." followed by audience applause (the 1:55 mark of the PBS video is the edit point)
- (2:38, C4) Footage of Obama preparing to meet along with PM David Cameron, then Deputy PM Nick Clegg greets Obama and shares a laugh. At 2:09 of the PBS video, the scene jumps straight from Obama walking outside 10 Downing Street to Obama, Cameron, and Clegg sitting down.
- (3:53, C4) Soundbite of Cameron addressing the Libyan conflict. PBS edited that out entirely and left in only Gibbon's narrated summary (3:03, PBS). Also following was a British poll by YouGov that showed that this year more people had confidence in Obama than Bush:
Good report, and be advised that when you see Independent Television News reports on the
NewsHour, PBS may edit those for time or to eliminate UK-centric content.
