" A PBS Frontline special titled Top Secret America explains how the Obama Administration has not fulfilled it's promise to make sweeping changes within the CIA after various questionable practices that began under George Bush and Dick Cheney. The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur and Michael Shure discuss.

1. His record of upholding Bush-Era policies
is one of the things I find most intolerable. Bush was a horrible pResident who did incredible amounts of damage. Imagine my disappointment when I keep seeing Obama not only maintain, but further defend BushCo neocon policies.

It sucks. :argh:

2. One of many promises Obama has failed to keep.
Whether you agree or not, those who voted for Obama have been ' hoodwinked ' by Obama's platform interpretation of ' CHANGE '. Its Change we can really do without.

4. Indeed. It is, for all practical intents and purposes, no change at all
just more of the same crap.

3. The torture policies have been abolished...
....so this is all bullshit propaganda. When I see people post this shit they never mention that fact because it kills their story. Cenk should be ashamed.

5. I'm not going to say who should be ashamed, but I can tell you it's NOT Cenk.

GITMO is still very much alive, as are the so-called 'wars' on terror and (some) drugs, as are the hostile occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, as are the TSA and DHS, as are the unPATRIOTic Act and MCA, and on and on. You're focusing on one particular aspect that has been somewhat scaled back but not eliminated is what is BS propaganda, in my opinion.

6. Why should Cenk be ashamed?
He gave credit to torture policies being abolished, so whats the '" bullshit propaganda " you claim?

Cenk:

"...This is coming from a 34 year CIA veteran, John Rizzo....he's coming and saying " I was there. I saw it. They said they were going to change the whole thing and then they changed, with the notable exception he said obviously of the torture, there's no more enhanced interrogation technique, outside of that, THEY DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING..."

8. He DID mention that.
If you listen to the piece you will see that they DO mention that the torture policies were changed.

But none of the rest of the policies were.

Bush era policies such as extralegal rendition/assassination, dismissal of the posse comitatus act, wireless wiretapping of Americans are some of my most serious criticisms with this President, as they were my largest criticisms of the previous administration.

I try not to change my views on things when I get a candidate in office who is continuing such policies, but who has a letter next to his name that I may find more preferable. It does not make immoral atrocities, and disregard for our legal doctrines legitimate.

War is war. Murder is murder. Law is law.

Until we stop legitimizing occupation by veiling it in documents that we have been proven, time and again, to give no regard once we're engaged, we will continue to have more anger against us.

10. This is based upon the claims of a republican.
Remains 'possible' but unproven.

12. Torture is only taking a break.
If you're listening to the people on the right that think that "enhanced interrogation" was/is a good thing, how can you not see that it will continue with another Republican presidency? They may have changed the policy (which was what, ignore the Geneva Convention?) but they haven't prosecuted, they've merely written it off as a difference in ideology.

As far as the RW are concerned, it saves lives, it got bin laden, and it's there in the future when we need it again.

13. Makes my blood run cold
And I don't care for it one bit. I hate the feeling of cognitive dissonance. I'd be furious if this were a Repugnance President. Wall off another sanctuary in the mental game room for more stuff I can't stand
