1. He still gives a great speech does it with no seeming sense of shame.
At least his speech writer is a liberal.

14. He has nothing to be ashamed of
unlike most of the people that can't wait to be the first to bash every single positive thread about him regardless of the content.

That's one, just for starters.

Candidate Obama said it would be a top priority.

President Obama?

Not so much . . .

7. Just Rhetoric
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 07:47 PM by JJW
Rhetoric isn't going to cut it, this late in his first term. Especially when we know his track record of caving to right-wing idiocy and corporate criminals.

8. Obama
If Obama told me itwas raining outside, I'd have to get up and check for myself. He'll use the word "compromise" in his speech Thursday and will drop more points in the polls.

10. Of course it's "rhetoric"?
That's what a speech is, silly. At least watch it before you complain.

John Dewey said "Democracy begins in conversation." Today, POTUS changed our national conversation. That's a good thing.

12. What gives me encouragement
Is the size of the crowd there to see/hear him. After watching videos of almost-deserted Teaparty rallies, the crowd to see our President was impressive. Not sure if you can see it in this video (I haven't yet watched it) but I saw a glimpse of the crowd on the news last night. If people are still this energized to see him, that gives me hope for our country.

18. hollow words--actions speak louder than political speeches.
He has a whole term to support labor. He made a choice to allow the republicans to dictate the agenda--and he followed again and again. It has never been about the deficit. It has always been about jobs.

And, where was he during the WI recall elections? His voice would have been a great help to those citizens who were fighting the giant government bully. He remained silent--as did the VP who is now shouting loudly about labor rights.

Actions speak louder than political speeches.
