Over the past two decades recess has become a time waster for our schools.... One principal in Wisconsin sees it as potential for trouble makers and makes the kids march...

1. A lot of schools have done away with nap time for kindergarteners and recess

for elementary schools is limited to fifteen minutes after lunch.

Kids simply don't have time to be kids any more. Gotta be able to pass that federal and state mandated test.

2. The principal needs to go back to the classroom for a few more years

until she either quits working with children or begins to understand their needs. She is completely squelching the creativity, adventurous nature and natural social relationships of the children.

3. If fights at recess are a problem, this is a good solution

The very kids who lose recess are the ones who need it the most.
