4. Aging population
Florida crowd, Tea Party (aging american/unhealthy folks/ business people... did you even see the audience?) It's the spin machine, the only people that are watching this are those who support the candidate's position and those who are vehemently opposed and both options are supported by what they see. Next debate's hosted by FOX, so that's MSNBC, CNN, and FOX, that's a pretty definitive moderate spectrum.

2. This is why I hate libertarian assholes with every fiber of my being
We live in a country where getting sick means you lose your insurance and any hope of ever getting insurance again.

I lost mine in 1987. Libertarians have wanted me to crawl off and die since then. Sometimes I think only pure spite keeps me going.

Libertarians are my deadly enemy, whether they call themselves Republicans, teabaggers, or god's anointed. I want them all thrown out of government and out of polite society. If they want their version of paradise, let them buy their own island somewhere.

31. My brother is actually looking forward to ...
... 2012 being the "End of the World."

He is intelligent, a doctor, in fact. Yet, he has such hate for Democrats, that he abandons reason and aligns himself with people like this. He is not alone, either ...

7. This should be a part of a national campaign...
...that characterizes Republicans in general. The Dem leadership (especially Obama) need to start painting the Republicans as bad guys in broad general strokes. We need to start influencing or rather enlightening the low-information voters.

16. Persuade
that was the word you're looking for to stop sounding elitist. I'm not saying "ignore the opposition" but realize it's not an "all for party" issue, but an "all for nation" one. Sure, we believe progressive actions are the best course, but could a SS holiday for employers promote hiring in companies that could use a few extra bodies? Considering manufacturing employees are working at great "worker productivity" rates, there are openings to keep that rate stable, and if lower payroll taxes (in the short term, 2-4 years) will encourage industry to hire to keep those rates, is that so terrible.

I do know that keeping those rates means "asking" the employee to accept a stagnant wage (which is in the hands of the wage earner, experience is cost-effective, i've seen too many new-hires to argue differently) and the wage earners can be in control if they can stand together. Which boils down to personal savings, and where we teach that, and that might be the schools and home-ec classes, which aren't a bad thing, and might/should be mandatory, but i ruminate to prose-ly

12. And what about the people with good paying jobs who have health insurance
that promptly kicks them off when a major problem occurs?

This is the reality in America where the majority of bankruptcies are due to major medical events and the majority of those people had medical insurance at the onset of their problem.

As for the t-party douchebags in the audience. Rot in Hell you pieces of shit.

14. Nazi poster

This German poster (from around 1938) reads: "60,000 Reichsmarks is what this person suffering from a hereditary disease costs the People's community during his lifetime. Comrade, that is your money too."

Hitler was in favour of killing those whom he judged to be "unworthy of life".

Both his physician, Dr Karl Brandt, and the head of the Reich Chancellery, Hans Lammers, testified after the war that Hitler had told them as early as 1933, at the time the sterilisation law was passed, that he favoured killing the incurably ill, but recognised that public opinion would not accept this. In 1935, Hitler told the Reich Doctors' Leader, Dr. Gerhard Wagner, that the question could not be taken up in peacetime: "Such a problem could be more smoothly and easily carried out in war", he said. He intended, he wrote, "in the event of a war radically to solve the problem of the mental asylums". The outbreak of war thus opened up for Hitler the possibility of carrying out a policy he had long favoured.

28. Good Point - And They Favor Executions Too
I don't understand them. They are pro-life for Life between conception to birth. Then fuck you - you're on your own.

Die if you get sick without insurance

Take a needle of drugs or sit in the gas chamber or so states still use the barbaric electric chair - even if there is doubt about your conviction you must die. And there has been a lot of doubt about capital case convictions. There have been at least 13 men released from death row because DNA proved their innocence. But to no avail - these people would have let them die.

I can think of all kinds of lame shit that the government spends money on.
Providing medical care for someone in need seems like a pretty good use of my tax dollars.

The real question should have been, 'what do you do with the person who cannot afford health insurance?'. Wolf let him off the hook with the 'chooses to not purchase' aspect.

25. Change the story to reality based
Young 30 yr old college graduate has been working part time jobs for the past 8 yrs. He couldn't afford health insurance because he doesn't make a living wage and is helping his parents who are ill from corporate pollution and the eating of too much unhealthy processed products that corporations sell as food.

29. Enthusiastic shouts of "YEAH" to the question...
...should society just let him die.

I have a question for the pro-lifers in the GOP. Should the parents of a disabled infant have the right to 'just let them die' rather than assume the risk of higher medical costs?

"just let him die?" Most RWnuts would say NO, you must have the baby and deal with the medical costs when you get there.

33. Wolf, get out there & find out what insurance REALLY costs---"$200-300" NOT!
You MIGHT be able to get bare bones catastrophic insurance for that ---if you're 30 ---but it won't cover anything until the catastrophe occurs. Also, there's usually a high deductible associated with low cost insurance like that.
