Jon Ronson (author of The Men Who Stare At Goats and The Psychopath Test) is developing a documentary, titled Escape & Control, on the ways the internet can free us, or be used to control us... And he's doing it in true Journalism 2.0 fashion -- filming, editing and releasing it in pieces as he goes along, for free, on YouTube. It's sponsored by Trend Micro so he has some money behind him to do it right. This could be very good.

Note: This is the trailer, but Part 1: The Search For Omer Gershon is up already. In this segment, Ronson tries to track down a gay man who claims to live in London, and leads a gay rights advocacy organization, named Omer Gershon. Gershon posted a video on YouTube claiming he volunteered his organization's help to Free Gaza but was turned down. Turns out though that Free Gaza has no record of this, and Omer Gershon isn't who he says he is.

1. Kick for the evening crowd

I watched the first part and it's classic Ronson, albeit without some of his usual meandering due to the short format. The man is a gifted story teller who is able to make a point without clobbering you over the head with it.
