I wish more Democrats had the guts to call out the Republicons on all of their BS talking points and their stupid ideas that put us in the situation that we are in now. I don't have much money but I will be donating to her campaign.

Boy is this clip magnificent.

Elizabeth has CORE PRINCIPALS that she believes in and practices. Rooted deeply in FAIRNESS and REASON.

You can hear how strongly she believes in her principals by the resonance in her voice in these clips. I think her principals are inspired by the U.S. Constitution.

She contrasts strongly with most of our political class, who's principals, such as they may be, are rooted in simply getting and staying elected.

Elizabeth Warren is obviously the real thing. She hasn't come into politics having long aimed for that goal ( which I'm sure Obama did.) She's been drawn into public service with good goals in mind. Her long time record proves it. The disrespect she's had to deal with from the Republicans and the current White House speaks volumes. I wonder if she has any support from Al Gore. That would be a good thing (or say a lot about Gore, once and for all.)

Conventional wisdom in politics is often wrong. A case in point may be the Senate candidacy of Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts.

The conventional wisdom is that Warren, a Harvard professor, is the ideal candidate for the liberal bastion of Massachusetts.

The problem with this particular piece of conventional wisdom is that even though Massachusetts has sent some outstanding liberal Democrats to the U.S. Senate, it is one of the last bastions of male chauvinism in American politics. Warren is off to a good start and may yet turn out to be a strong candidate, but she will be swimming against more than 200 years of local history.

The great irony of this is that female candidates actually have fared much better in the South, the most conservative region in the country, than they have in the Bay State.

Since joining the union, Massachusetts has never elected a woman to the Senate, and only one woman, Jane Swift, has served a brief two-year term as acting governor. Swift, who was then lieutenant governor, became acting governor in 2001 when Gov. Paul Cellucci gave up his job to become U.S. ambassador to Canada. Swift did not seek election in her own right at the end of her term.
