They do not like that students tells them whats best for them or this country. Because they pay tax and keep their head down, and they dont like brainy kids coming along and rocking the boat. The logic is almost like "I suffer and pay my dues, so should you" without actually understanding what the students are advocating.
Only when workers join the students can we see real manifestations of peoples power, like May 68 in France where the stormtroopers of DeGaulle fought running battles with students all over Paris. A week later, 16 million workers walked out of the factories and joined them to protect them. We saw some of that same dynamic in Oakland rescently, even if the corporate media are shutting up about it.
The cops might still fight labor, but they really do not want to. Its somehow much easier to beat up a bunch of youngsters while calling them hippies. If enough labor turns out, the cops will start disobeying their orders.
Thats when shit gets done.
