The Tone of this video is quite interesting on two levels.
One, instead of being virulent anti-arab and violent in tone, its quite thoughtful and gentle.
Two, its quite clear that for someone as well educated and thoughtful as he/she is, they are quite clueless about the causes and effects of Middle-Eastern violence and Middle-eastern culture.
Its very clear that his/her sources of information is quite limited and most of his/her frame of reference is constricted to the well worn myths of US altruism in international affairs.
I can imagine that this person has never read Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, or Howard Zinn. Nor have they questioned the motives of US policy makers and realized the consequences of US actions.
This is why good people vote Republican... They are sorely ill informed, even the well educated with good conscience.
Chomsky would say that this is a direct result of our education system, where the highly educated would be the one's defending status quo, regardless of the atrocities that are committed by it. Couple that with rampant republican fear mongering, this person represents a sizable chunk of the American population that is incapable of making sense of the current state of international affairs.
It's a big problem.
