CURRENT TV Countdown w/ KEITH OLBERMANN - 15 November 2011: Keith's Special Comment on the Occupy Wall Street late-night raid.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/11/15/1036813/-Special-Comment:-The-Hero-Of-Occupy,-Mike-Bloomberg?via=siderec

TUE NOV 15, 2011 AT 07:00 PM EST
Special Comment: The Hero Of Occupy, Mike Bloomberg

by Keith Olbermann

My Special Comment tonight on Countdown will trace Bloomberg's forebears in over-reach and under-thought: everybody from Mayor Daley of Chicago, to Governor Rhodes of Ohio, to Joe McCarthy, and George Grenville:

Democracy has been protected, not merely by the strenuous efforts of those of us who cherish it. But mostly, and most profoundly, by the limitless stupidity of those who would ration it, keep it for themselves and themselves alone -- or destroy it.

- snip -

Who else but a cartoon like Bloomberg could have become rich creating a multi-billion dollar media company, and then authorize illegally preventing reporters from witnessing police actions he claims were utterly legal, and then authorize the arrest of four reporters at a Church?...

Who else but a hypocrite like Bloomberg could have overridden by backroom-deal with the New York City Council, the results of two separate referendums limiting those in his office to just two terms as Mayor, so he could serve a third term, and then had his police arrest, beat up, and incarcerate, a member of the New York City Council?...

Michael Bloomberg is the 12th richest man in America, which is a reminder that money can't buy you love, brains, or foresight.

And what Bloomberg did last night, and the fact that a new poll shows 58% of those throughout New York state believe protestors not only have the right to protest, but they have the right to stay overnight in the parks of the cities of the state, and the boost his midnight police riot at Zuccotti Park will give Occupy here and elsewhere, is a reminder that at least in this country, we can still take comfort that not everything bears a pricetag, and nothing preserves Democracy better than the stupidity of its opponents.

1. ANYONE who works to maintain a corrupt status has done nothing
to enhance freedom. Michael Bloomberg has done nothing to promote freedom. Ray Kelly has done nothing to promote freedom. Jean Quan has done nothing to promote freedom.
The various police agencies involved in these matters have done nothing to promote freedom.

22. He pays people to obey him. He pretends to himself that the people he pays to obey
him actually like him and that their obeisance means he is a good leader.

Of course, he only "succeeds" because he has money and can pay people to do his bidding.

Since he isn't paying the folks at the Occupy site, they don't and won't do his bidding. He will of course fail.

That people do what you say because you pay them does not make you a leader, Mayor Bloomberg. That people do what you say because they are inspired by your integrity makes you a leader.

And, Mr. Bloomberg, you acted without integrity when you evicted OWS. You inspired no one. You have just earned yourself a lot of contempt not a lot of respect.

8. Keith was on fire!
Man, I really like him on Current and I love it when he says some snarky stuff like "God Damn Batman Movie." He had me giggling and pumping my fist during his special comment.

Then a few minutes later he has Gabby Gifford's recording on and I'm sniffling and wiping my eyes.

Keith is must see tv for me.

16. He is for me, as well...
...and dare I say it, but I think he's even better now at Current than at MSNBC.

KO - Bill Wolf breathing down his neck = real Must See TV.

BTW, anybody who might know, a question: is Keith the executive producer of this version of the show? (As stated above, he had to answer to Mr. Wolf as MSNBC).

...still manages to act that venally.

There seems to be no limit to the 1%'s (Bloomberg's peer group is even more narrow) greed, corruption and sociopathy toward those who aren't in - as George Carlin once said - the "Big Club".

They simply won't be satisfied until we're all serfs again. (And even then, they'd probably complain we're not slaves.)

brought to us by such soulless wraiths as Bloomberg and clones; great men are called on to guide us through the blackness of their treachery...Keith is one such man...shining a light on the crawling shine of maggots, that in the moments of their greatest evil can be seen behind the false fronts of their eyes.

21. "A human platitude like Bloomberg"

Omg, Keith really is the best. That was excellent. Bloomberg is the poster boy for all that is wrong with the political system in this country. But I agree with Keith, keep him around a little longer, he and his Police Commissioner, Ray Kelly have been the very best thing that happened to OWS.

But he really sincerely doesn't get it. To him, ordinary people are a different species. He has made that clear so many times in the past, but now the whole world is getting to see him for what he is.

This may be Keith's best rant ever.

The only thing missing from the piece is the likelihood that this was coordinated from higher-ups. We need to be honest with ourselves; Bloomberg probably had a chat with Obama before undertaking the eviction.

This is Bloomberg's let them eat cake moment and he knows it. He must resign, or be recalled. Obama must be held accountable if the federal government is involved. Let him know we will not accept this, or the downturn of America and repugnant's obstruction on jobs and our quality of life!

I haven't seen ANY other commentary casting events from that perspective. When the "Dark Knight Returns" (or whatever it will be called) comes out, the "GOD DAMNED BATMAN MOVIE" line is really going to spoil it for me, but it was funny and appropriate.

30. This is why I watch Keith!
Now as for those wanting the Feds to step in, which department will be first to step on states rights? There have been mo federal crimes committed although I would have the AG look into police violence.

Like natural disasters, the government waits for the state to request help.

Or am I wrong here?

31. Thank-you, Keith
I would add that it MUST be said; it SHOULD BE shouted from every Occupy camp:

Bloomberg and his obscenely wealthy minions are scurrying around like cockroaches in the dawning light because their wealth is an illusion. Their hedonism has resulted in the massive Black Hole that the brave and erudite Brooksley Born called the Dark Market. With a current notional value of $680 TRILLION, the 'worth' of these worthless financial instruments exceeds the combined GNPs of EVERY NATION ON THIS PLANET by a factor of ten.

Bloomberg and his ilk do not want an Enlightened Hoi Polloi. Moreover, Bloomberg and his ilk DO NOT WANT THE HOI POLLOI TO UNDERSTAND HOW ILLUSORY IS THEIR OBSCENE WEALTH.

Well, Mr. Bloomberg, I have news for you: We SEE you and those like you clearly now.

32. Bloomberg - THE IMPERIAL WIZARD OF NEW YORK!!
When the rich get pissed they just pay to have their way!!

If the media can't record it - there must be something VERY wrong!!!

We should have a law that says the media can not be restrained from
making an accurate recording of any event that threatens the civil
liberties of the American people!!!

Why do these idiots think they can do whatever they want
RIGHT OUT IN THE OPEN???

ANSWER:Because they have the police (their personal army)
to do whatever they are ordered to do.

THERE NEEDS TO BE A LAW!!!!
