Karl Frisch of Bullfight Strategies & Charlie Fink, Former AOL Executive. Millionaires and billionaires are descending on a place where they're usually met with open arms...Capitol Hill. But I'll tell you why the message carried by THESE patriotic 1%ers may not be what our politicians want to hear.

The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann on RT TV & FSTV "live" 9pm and 11pm check www.thomhartmann.com/tv for local listings

1. The funny thing is...
If there was a voluntary way to opt in to pay more taxes or have more income deducted like we can on our paychecks, there would be very few who would put their money where their mouth is. I'd even say not one would step up and do it.

3. I disagree
when I think about chipping in to help my neighbour, the last entity I think of giving money to is the govt.

5. Forget what I sound like
During the christmas or some awful natural disaster when you think of donating to the less fortunate, do you ever think about giving money to the government? of course not, we all donate to charity. But i do think of govt when it comes to maintaining schools, building roads etc.

8. This makes no sense:
I demand that you force me to do something that I've been avoiding doing for the last 10+ years!
But they honestly don't need to demand it. If they want to make a donation to the government, they can give any amount they want to Gifts to the United States Government. This is a fund that was set up in 1843, and will be put into the general fund.
Just write a check, drop it into the mail, and send to:
Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D
Hyattsville, MD 20782
Or they could just not take deductions that major corps take that whittles their tax obligation down to zero or near zero. You want to help? Then help. Otherwise you're just doing this for publicity.
