Too bad he was not really on the side of the Egyptian people either. All the US wanted to end the instability and hand power to the US Backed military there, which they succeeded in doing.

The Military has now killed over 40 protesters over the past week in Egypt. Doctors say the numbers are higher but they are being pressured to 'keep the numbers down'.

So far, the only statement made on the revolution there by the US is that 'both sides need to show restraint', again with the 'moral equivalency' tactic. But there has been no outright condemnation of the US Backed Military as they are the last hope of continuing Western influence over Egypt.
