1. These are images from the state I grew up in.

My father worked in a cotton mill and as a teenager I work with him during the summer. Child labor in textiles is one of the main reasons child labor laws were enacted. Those mills were not a place for children.

2. I hate to be a Debbie downer but-
Am I the only one who thinks that these guys are not at all funny? I've tried, every single one I come across and I just can't find them funny, at all. Not that I disagree with the points they make- but with all the brilliant comedians on the left- I just don't see how they keep going.

Once again I apologize, I just want to see If anyone agrees

Here are some quick ideas;

Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZXSPmhjQQU

Scrooge complains that poor people should die and decrease the surplus population, rather than bother rich people for donations. Scrooge complains about charity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSAW-lOyROU&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

Scrooge sings "Too Lazy, Too Stupid": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVZ0EloW_s4

And my favorite, The Grinch song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIe0rNaDhEE

Edited to add... I want to see the part with the 3 ghosts..I love poetic justice!

4. My Fundie brother and sister;
Also have no sense of humor. I find humor in a lot of things and the comedy of political humor is one of them. I find most of political humor is of the absurd variety. The absurd certainly contains actual wording of politicians' as they try to stir the pot of public idiocracy.

Keep at it. After all you are a progressive. I just hope you do not find people such as Dennis Miller, et al. to be funny.

These guys are onto something. But as "great comedy" they just don't cut it. The campy delivery ruins it. If it were slick and all serious-like... it would bring out the absurdity and uselessness of, in this instance, Newty's modest proposal. That's what makes "the Onion" work. They just sound sophomoric.

And nothing is there to show the GOP is indeed trying to put the childish, if not children, in the top US job... president. Who could be more childish than Newt, or Bachmann, or Perry.... or even Ron Paul? People full of ideas 8 year olds have abandoned! How can these "adults" be as old as they are, lived in the real world for as long as they have, and still believe in what they are proposing? How about working that fact into the mix?

6. Yeah, good idea, poor execution imo
It happens a lot on SNL, too.

If this had been done in the style of the Onion at its best or The National Lampoon back in its heyday, this could've hit the bullseye.
