WEEKLY ADDRESS: On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country

WASHINGTON—In this week’s address, President Obama wished the American people a happy Thanksgiving, giving a special thanks to the brave men and women serving overseas and those giving back at shelters and soup kitchens in their communities during the holidays. Those who celebrated the first Thanksgiving persevered by drawing strength from each other, and today we once again come together in that spirit of unity to overcome our challenges, remaining thankful for our freedom and the blessings of family, community, and country.

11. I was watching "The Last Word" yesterday

O'donnell went on about how the media should call the lying Rethugs for what they are. On and on about the lies of Romney and Ging-grinch. But what about the LIES that have streamed from this president's lips? I STILL have that video link about where he PROMISED prospective voters he'd END the illegitimate war in Iraq on the DAY he took office. Told those folks they could TAKE THAT TO THE BANK! And here we are on the doorstep of BUSH'S planned exit date and RELUCTANTLY letting it happen!!! :mad:

It's just too bad Obama felt like he had to listen to those who "knew better than him". The Wall Streeters he opted to "advise" him and the generals that explained what a mistake it was to STOP American kids from absorbing IEDs and coming home less or worse a person than when they'd been sent there. Generals are born, bred and groomed to FIGHT WARS - not end them.

Listening to this address, I was moved to remark to the wife that it sounded like a Republican president's message. And he's gonna be the BETTER CHOICE come next November!

13. It really sucks.

We ALL support our troops through taxes. I have to agree the meme that they are "protecting us" is bullshit. If the troops were actually protecting us they would be deployed in America, protecting our Occupy movement from the torture and harassment by our "leaders." Unfortunately, the military official stance on that is that we are just lazy troublemakers.

"They" know that if they bring home thousands of military personnel who are unemployed, they may just join "the movement." That would be a 1%'er's nightmare. They will find a way to retain many soldiers just in case they start to feel too threatened. I hope that most soldiers realize that they swore to protect the constitution and not the thieves running our government. I don't think that many of them were actually, democratically elected.

Imagine, having the audacity to impose our form of democracy on weak nations.

That is disgusting. If you notice, most of them have universal health care.
