7. One of the reasons I no longer fly the flag at my home (indefinite detention).
Edited on Tue Nov-29-11 08:50 AM by mmonk
As far as I'm concerned, I'd be required to fly it upside down. That would cause the neighbors to get pissed off and probably send someone from the Homeowners Association over. So I don't fly it.

8. We had the war on drugs, which allowed our government to
begin the shredding of the constitution and allowed the "government" (aka a criminal enterprise) to war on the people of this country...without a peep from the sheeple...which emboldened the "government", with vast foreigner input, to brazenly, by the acts of 9/11, enact the patriot act, militarizing even our local police to protect this "criminal enterprise".

Now the beginning the third phase, the real and open war on the people of this country, imprisoning those who disobey and enslaving this country into a foreign influenced oligarchy ruled by a tin pot dictator (which they can change every four years, (by fraudulent elections) if he/she does not heel too, under the thumb of that foreign power.

It is no longer our government and we are becoming vassals possibly to another country who have been slowly, taking this country over for many decades, through our banking system, which is no longer ours.

OWS is our last hope.

Enter the agents

9. 10 Steps to Despotism...being followed almost by the letter...
Per the book "The End of America : Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot" by Naomi Wolf, which is a study of the rise of dictatorships in the early 20th century, came up with these 10 steps that were seen in all cases:

>>> 1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy. (Done: Terrorism)
>>> 2. Create secret prisons where torture takes place. (Done: Gitmo & various secret holding areas in the world)
>>> 3. Develop a thug caste or paramilitary force not answerable to citizens. (Done: See OWS tactics by police; Federalizing of National Guard Troops)
>>> 4. Set up an internal surveillance system. (Done: Adding cameras everyday; Tapping/Tracking of all electronics)
>>> 5. Harass citizens' groups. (Done: i.e., OWS or those who are "against us")
>>> 6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release. (Done: Gitmo; various "special" people around the world...most we aren't aware of)
>>> 7. Target key individuals. (In progress: we have seen this by the US going after US and foreign individuals throughout the world)
>>> 8. Control the press. (In progress: There is a partial control from the right and "use" of the press by both sides)
>>> 9. Treat all political dissidents as traitors. (Done: "Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists."...per GWB)
>>> 10. Suspend the rule of law.<5> (Done: Per various laws/acts/orders since 9/11, peoples rights under the law are being stripped away. This video points to one major one.)

14. The governments.....
Edited on Wed Nov-30-11 01:22 AM by DeSwiss
...at pretty much all levels in the U.S. are totally corrupted. There is only one way to deal with that.

- And everyone knows it.....

K&R

"What no one seemed to notice was the ever widening gap between the government and the people. And it became always wider the whole process of its coming into being, was above all diverting, it provided an excuse not to think for people who did not want to think anyway. Nazism gave us some dreadful, fundamental things to think about and kept us so busy with continuous changes and "crises" and so fascinated by the machinations of the "national enemies," without and within, that we had no time to think about these dreadful things that were growing, little by little, all around us.

Each step was so small, so inconsequential, so well explained or, on occasion, "regretted," that unless one understood what the whole thing was in principle, what all these "little measures" must some day lead to, one no more saw it developing from day to day than a farmer in his field sees the corn growing. Each act is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join you in resisting somehow. You don't want to act, or even talk, alone, you don't want to "go out of your way to make trouble." But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes.

That's the difficulty. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves, when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. You have accepted things you would not have accepted five years ago, a year ago, things your father could never have imagined."

~Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free, The Germans, 1938-45 (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1955)

15. Sign Petition for National Defense Authorization Act Veto!
With the failure of the Udall Amendment and the likely passing of the bill in the Senate, the last hope to kill this bill with in its current form is for a presidential veto. Use your voice to influence the Obama Administration to follow through with its statement that they will veto this act. Please consider signing the online petition on the White House website (link below). Thanks
