1. Al makes several good points. Three are...
1. Richard Nixon signed a law that said we wouldn't detain people like this.

2. Ronald Reagan apologized for our detaining Japanese-Amercians like this during WW II.

3. There is no reason to do this.

I trust President Obama would not abuse such an act, but President Gingrich (God forbid!) would.

No President should have this power.

5. President Obama already has exercised such powers
President Obama ordered the murder of a US citizen not only
without trial but without charges being brought as well as
without the accused being able to defend himself.  He also
approved the murder of that US citizen's teenage son - himself
a US citizen.
President Obama - at this very moment - is holding
non-citizens in indefinite detention without any hope of a
trial and without any hope of charges being brought.
This is no different than the policy of George Bush or
Pinochet or Franco.
