I'm not saying this sarcastically. Honestly, the corruption and incompetence among the rich and powerful is so pervasive it's amazing they haven't blown up the planet yet.

This is why democracies (if allowed to actually flourish) are so good. When hundreds or millions of people are given the facts, they tend to make the best decisions as a group. But when a handful of people control the power they make very bad decisions to the point that they are dangerous and destructive.
