Theories:

1) They're trying to motivate Repub voters who have disengaged or who can't stomach Romney

I think what we're watching is the Rethug establishment's worst nightmare.

Had all gone according to plan, Romney would be WAY out front by now despite being a Mormon. When people gravitated to Perry (most likely because they preferred a Chrtistian), Cain was dispatched to cannibalize his votes (without becoming a viable candidate himself). When Cain wouldn't back off after his mission had been accomplished, his mistresses materialized, and, as Tweety put it so beautifully (for once in his life) "Looks like it's Gingrich's turn to drive the clown car."

For months now its been clear that the GOP field is a bunch of nutters, all of them. Given that, there is simply no time left to raise a campaign staff and the money needed to move a better candidate in for the Repub-thug base to vote for. Isn't that a fantastic thing?

Another point is that the economy is improving slowly, maybe not as quickly as we prefer, but the repub-thugs were banking on it tanking so Our President would be cornered by the very bad situation. Well, is not tanking as badly as they had hoped and he is not backed into a corner.

The European financial crisis, now that is a real threat, but I feel it will not affect President Obama's reelection. Unfortunately it could make matters worse for all of us for quite a while.

Damn those frickin' banksters, we have to keep our eyes on the prize and stay awake from now on. We must regain our democracy and regulate those greedy, greasy crooks.

This is just another form of FOX propaganda at work. This "poll" is going to be used to condition the voters into feeling that Obama is losing as FOX propaganda's "newer polls" are taken in the future. These newer "polls" will show Obama's support edging downward. This is a great propaganda tactic on the part of the FOX News' propaganda outfit.
Now when the GOP suddenly steals the voting machine results in NOV 2012 they will show the "polls" FOX has taken all year long as proof that the election was honest and Obama lost from loss of support over the year.

If it's a real poll, it's hilarious to see the shock on their faces as reality intrudes into the bubble. Most Fox News viewers are convinced that Obama is universally loathed and that a Republican victory is inevitable in 2012.
