With all the abandoned and foreclosed real estate in Detroit, the Occupy movement here has decided to reclaim the homes to help to build this struggling city back up.

1. I love the bottle window!

2. That is beautiful. Not just the bottles from the inside, but

the sentiment from which they are operating. What a shame that our local governments did not come up with plans like this to save neighborhoods and people from simply falling apart.

Showing how it could be done, really highlights the failure of government, or rather exposes where their priorities are. They are not for the people, that is becoming abundantly clear.

This is like what happened in Argentina where the people took over the factories after the Multi-Nationals simply picked up and left, whole communities were devastated. When it's a matter of survival, people have to be creative.

Btw, I wonder if they got this idea from the guy in Boston who has been putting people in fore-closed homes for several years now. He really is wonderful and I'm sure he loves this. He can only be in one place, now they are everywhere.

As he said at the end 'we can get things done, if the officials will just get the hell out of our way'.

I can only wish that this type of action happens more and more...and maybe eventually move on to the hundreds of closed businesses and thousands-sq-footage big-box stores that sit empty, wasted shelter space that so many have a desperate need for. News this morning is saying that half the nation can be classified as "poor", one of every two is now either low-income or below poverty-level...legions of people who know in their gut that there is no american dream for them, no matter what any politician preaches from their judgment halls.
