1. Patrick Henry and John Adams were extremists. So were FDR and LBJ.

So were early abolitionists.

I have no problem with RW extremists, as long as we have left wing extremists to balance them out and refute them.

It's when Democrat crowd center right that we have problems with the right. In fact, it's when we force the right out of center right and therefore further to the right.

That is my assessment of what has happened since LBJ.

When LBJ ran, Barry Goldwater was considered extreme right.

I cannot even count how many posts by center right DEMOCRATS I have seen saying ole Barry was a pretty good guy who was given a bad rap. And center right Democrats practically hand a halo about the head of racist "just ignore Joe McCarthy while he destroys careers, marriages and lives" Eisenhower.

I fear the No Labels effort to homogenize us all (to the right) a lot more than I fear a RW extremist.

Becoming somewhat saneer Republicans with (D)s after our names is not the same as defeating Republicans. It's making absolutely sure that either moderate Republicans or less moderate Republicans are always in control of 100% of local, state and federal government.

That was never the reason I registered Democrat.

6. That's pretty well explained. I think it makes sense as to why we're in the situation we're in with
BHO seeming quite like a centrist to centrist-right on things like war, surveillance, prisoners, education, etc... but liberal on social issues and social programs. But, yeah, I do believe if the leader of your party on the liberal side, is a moderate, you're simply going to have the conservative party see more of a difference being made with the liberals, and thus, their hard right anti-everybody types gain a foothold in the party.

:hi:

2. BTW, DD, how do you get into this forum?
Unless a post that I can click on shows up on the latest page, I have no way to get into a forum unless I have it bookmarked.

I'll bookmark this one now, but I had only GD and LBN bookmarked in the past.

4. I get into it by clicking on any of the 3 vids to the right side of the page in the
latest threads page - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=latest_threads

but I could easily just click on "Political Videos" above the video above, and save this link as a favorite -> http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=385

But, I just got so used to signing into the latest threads page and clicking the video that I don't have any other pages saved except LBN.
