home soon enough to see the medals and diplomas being awarded. I loved all of the details -- Al shook Pachauri's hand on the way to receiving the medal, Al first stood a little bit way from Pachauri during the initial applause, but then moved next to him as it started to build to a standing ovation.
My main thought: The Nobel Peace Prize is an award for exceptional courage, for overcoming terrible obstacles and for doing work that has caused you to be attacked, ignored, and laughed at but still having the courage to keep going.
I've also learned, since Gore's award was announced, that the Nobel Committee usually gives the award while the person is still very active - it isn't just recognition of what they have already completed, it is meant to be a spur and a help so that they can keep moving.
All in all - tremendous!
