Asperger's, science and creativity. A grandmother brags.

And would like to understand her grandson's talents. My eight-year-old grandson, an Aspie, has three qualities that should make him a brilliant scientist - logic, photographic memory and curiosity. Ever since he started conducting his own scientific experiments when he was three, I've expected that one day he'll win the Nobel Prize in some branch of science. What I didn't anticipate is that a poem he wrote in class would be selected for an anthology of children's poetry. I don't know how many will be included; what I do know is that there were 68,000 entries from throughout the U.K. and Ireland. Even with writing talent in the family - both parents, two grandparents and two great-uncles are writers - I am surprised to see science and poetry coexist. Opinions? Thanks.

1. Science and Art are both creative endeavors.

That famous Aspie Einstein played a violin. And autistic sensory differences often gives us a unique perspective on the world, vital to art. Your grandson sounds like a wonderful kid! :)

We never really know their full potentials until we give them every
chance to try things.

Writing poetry is not easy by any means.
He sounds very talented.

My stepfather( RIP, Papa Doctor)
was a great scientist who loved poetry.

He couldn't write poetry, but he certainly
knew the genre well.
We discussed poetry often. I'm an English teacher.
He was also the best Grandpa my son( who has HS autism) ever had.

So there may be a connection, who know?
