I recently found out that I may be an Aspie.

Much of it makes sense, especially the social side of the tests. I have always been an outsider, never fit it, as long as I can remember - bullied unmercifully at school, short attention span, etc. I'm not thrilled or repulsed by the possibility that I may have this, I'm sad that it took to age 47 to figure out. At least I now know that there may be a reason I am the way I am.

My oldest son, now 28, has Asperger's, and we didn't figure it out until ten years ago. I am actually glad that he wasn't diagnosed when young, because I think that he really would have become his diagnosis, instead of the wonderful, quirky person he is.

Because I'm his mom, of course I wish I could make his life perfect and keep him from any trials and tribulations, but it doesn't work out that way. We all have challenges of various kinds, and more and more I wouldn't change him in the slightest.
