1. Agreed. It's very simple really. At the presidential level it's essentially
an up or down vote. And in 2012 a down vote (third party) is a vote with the Republicans, just as it was in 2000. Folks who believe that a third party could possibly win the presidency are taking some mind altering substance.

5. how the republicans are acting since Obama's election
it is all out war against them....Demcorats should decide were they loyalties are...agree or not with the Pres., the democratic philosophy remains the same. the Party has room for everyone, but we are all Democrats. If Party members are so completely devastated by what the Pres. has done and resort to attacking him, then, well, look for the door. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but Democrats belong to Party and should work for the common good of the people and the Party. All this applies to DU Democrats. Disappointment is fine, but figure out a way to voice it WITHOUT attacking the administration. So, i agree with you...draw the line in the sand.....Democrats or not...Dogmatic yes, but the republicans are no friend to the people of this country, so, it is war.

6. Criticism is not the same thing as opposition.
There are many things I find to criticize (not here, mind you). But there are some on DU who are simply opposed to everything this Congress and this President are trying to do.

If we enjoy the fact the DK is in an oversight role, and we hope for more progressives in Congress, how is opposing the party and everything Democrats are trying to accomplish while we have this window of time constructive? How can they claim they are working for progressive causes?

I get it. I really do. Most days I hate Ben Nelson. But I looked at my Senators on the ACLU site the other day. Ben Nelson has an abysmal rating of 56%. Sad. Then I looked at Johanns. His rating is 0%. Who am I going to vote for? Damn well believe it won't be the perennial Green candidate.

It is disheartening and frustrating when it feels like you are rowing against the current, but how is it helpful to stop rowing, or worse start rowing with the flow?

7. My Congressional District...
I've mentioned before that my Rep is Jerry Lewis (R-CA). Why he's still in office I'll never know. He's been under investigation and, IMO, is a crook. Try getting a 3rd party candidate elected here. Yeah, right.
