Obama Establishes Council of Governors
This sounds very interesting and a good way to bring some bipartisanship to national security and counter-terrorism activities here at home.

President Obama signed Executive Order #110-181 establishing the Council of Governors that will be composed of ten State Governors appointed by the President. No more than five of the Governors can be from the President’s party and a member of each party will serve as co-chair. The Council will operate at the Senior Administration level and will exchange views with state and local officials as well as Federal members to include the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the U.S. Northern Command Commander, and others. The Council will review such matters as the National Guard of the various States; homeland defense; civil support; synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States; and other matters of mutual interest pertaining to National Guard, homeland defense, and civil support activities.

I just hope the republican governors are not complete idiots like say a mark sanford or anyone who only will bring his own agenda to the Council.

But, it is an excellent idea to get the whole country more involved in being super aware of what's going on around us.

2. Interesting in the sense that it gives some national security experience to Governors.....
something most of them lack when contemplating running for the office of President. Interesting too, that it is the President who selects them. Good way to have some control on even the possible recruits from the opposing party as well as our own as part of the stable of contenders....I would imagine. Interesting idea. Perhaps this will help bring some bipartisan spirit back into the state leadership of this country.

3. This is a pretty good idea. Having worked in govenrment
I can tell you that higher levels often don't understand the activities at lower levels. This sounds like a good way to bridge this gap.
