An apology to last1standing

Hi everyone,

Apologies in advance for this self-indulgent thread!

I just want to completely withdraw some utterly unfair crap I posted in the horrendous "latte colored" thread the other night, when I got in to a spat with fellow DUer last1standing.

In my unbridled rage over the "latte colored" comment from the OP I also let rip at last1standing who, I wrongly believed at the time, was defending the OP's blatantly racist remarks.

The truth is, s/he wasn't doing anything of the sort, s/he was just responding to what was an offensive post from another DUer who, like me, allowed their fury over the "latte colored" business 'cloud' their better judgement. But I'm in no position to condemn that DUer because I've posted way, way, way more crazy stuff on DU in my time.

Any way, after the thread was locked I was in PM contact with last1standing and I really want fellow BOGers (!) to know that s/he is one of the more generous, decent and thoughtful DUers I've had the pleasure to have contact with. I now know, beyond doubt, that s/he hasn't a racist bone in their body, the PMs made that utterly clear, so I regret with all my heart the crap I posted in response to last1standing in that thread.

So, just for the DU record, I unreservedly apologise to last1standing for my stupid and hurtful accusations. We might not often agree on the substantive issues in all this madness, but last1standing’s concerns are sincere, they have absolutely nothing to do with the color of the President’s skin.

Again, I am so sorry and I withdraw every bullshit comment I made.

We both went overboard and we both needed to apologize, which we've done. I'm completely brain dead at that moment due to my schedule so I won't be nearly clear enough to due this justice, but I would like to say that it takes a lot to post a public apology and that shows much more about you than our silly argument did. I can't remember the last time I felt this good about resolving an argument and I think a real friendship was formed by it.

No, we don't agree about the direction this administration has taken but we both agree where we'd like to see it end up - as does most of the Democratic community. While I know it won't happen with everyone, I'm glad we two were able to get to that understanding. I know it'll have an effect on my future posting.

Now, I'm literally feeling my eyes shut of their own accord and have to pass out for another insane day tomorrow. The last thing I'll say is that I'm not sorry overall because of where this episode took us. It's been far more good than bad. Thank you for that. Take care and I'll chat with you later.
