MA Senate and HCR

Is anyone aware of any sort of polling that has taken place indicating the reasons for the tight race in MA, as in, has anyone asked something like "Why will you be voting for X candidate?" or "If you are not voting, why?"

I ask because even prior to the election, the narrative has already developed that should Coakley lose, it will be because of the HCR bill. Is there any shred of evidence to support that? By "evidence" I mean something other than some talking-head's scripted commentary or whatever comes out of the sky for people to bitch about.

1. From those I have spoken to in Massachusetts, it is more local than national
politics that is driving these strange events. The people are angry at local Dem's for taking them for granted and for thinking the party did not have to reach out to them. There has been some big corruption issues regarding Democrats and Gov. Patrick's favorable numbers are down. As crazy as this seems, it appears the people of Massachusetts are willing to risk the national Democratic agenda to send a message to the local party that they are not satisfied with the way things are now. I hope they come to their senses if this is truly the situation now. Brown would bring nothing to Massachusetts.

2. The results will be national no mater what the reason, and if the people of Massachusetts do not
realize that, then that is quite disappointing

3. I wonder if they realize they will deprive us all of health care
reform - maybe the Dems could even campaign on that, even. By now there must be enough publicity about it.

I don't see how they could put a repuke in Teddy's seat - that would be so wrong. Just to punish the Dems too. How stupid. It will only punish them to have a teabagger representing them.

5. Oh, I agree with both of you. I am shocked that Mass. could actually
vote for a slug like this Brown just to make a point. And, that point will affect a lot of people.
