Question -
After taking a break and now coming back to DU ... I am still seeing the same anger and resentment against president Obama and his administration. I was hoping a break would give me a fresh look, but oh well ...

My question is this - how much of this loathing is misdirected? Are many of these people still angry with Bush and taking it out on president Obama? There wasn't a magic wand waved and everything was all ok within the first year, is that what they're angry about? How can you fix unemployment, wars, health care, etc ... all in one year? How is that humanly possible? Is the anger for anyone who is in elected power now?

After reading the Mass. threads, I fear for our future. How can anyone think teaching a lesson to the administration/congress, is by electing a repuke? Wouldn't that send the message to go further right, not left?

I'm so sad, confused and disappointed. Not in just DU, but the M$M who on all sides have done nothing but ridicule and tear down this administration and congress - then have the nerve today to encourage people to come out and vote for Coakley. Good grief. Beat us down and then tell us they didn't mean it and get out there and fightfightfight? wtf? I was feeling like I was in an abusive relationship with the M$M and had to turn it off.

My admiration and respect to those of you who have been fighting the good fight. All the phone banking, fact checking, swimming against the tide - you're OUR base, regardless of what some on DU and the media say. Thank you.

1. I have no idea what their problem is.
I think it is a mix of things. People that expected a miracle to happen once he was elected, people who never liked him and/or are racist, and repubs/greens/worshipers of other people passing themselves off as Democrats. I posted one day that the only way that Obama could have done all that they wanted him to do was if he had been the messiah, and some one angrily answered "That is a lie." I think some of them have just gone bonkers or are playing the part of those who have gone bonkers.

The media is still just the liberal media that openly supports the republicans. Gee, just like some of the posters on the DU.

2. I'm going with bonkers ...

I keep thinking I've seen the most irrational comments ever, and them someone tops it.

Bonkers.

I still need cookies.

4. I'm thinking some have been involved in
politics too long for their own good. Once it feels like a cancer eating away at you, it's time to leave for a while - gain perspective and some peace of mind.

Honestly, there are more than a few I'm actually feeling pity for. I can't imagine the torment they're going through with the hatred eating away at their heart and mind.

As much as they'd hate me for it, I'll include them in my prayers/well wishing.

5. This tent got so big, those who entered just to rip holes in it were welcomed.
Have to admit, today I'm truly frustrated with Obama's treatment of Brown as though he's an incoming president -- saying he'll wait for Brown to be seated before doing anything on healthcare, and Obama's making what sounds like overtures to completely dismantling the bill into a former shadow of itself -- for the sake of a vote Brown WILL NOT GIVE.

And that all this takes place on the anniversary of what was one of the happiest days of my life, Obama's inauguration....

Not a good day for me. But I'm still proud of Obama and of our party. Today's just a hard day.
