3. They were amazing together..
I bet there wasn't a dry eye in the house after they sang..I know Mary J was trying to keep it together.

Each of their voices are so strong alone that they needed someone like each other to sing with so the other person could be heard. Yeah!

4. I didn't know how the pairing would go

I mean, both are great, but sometimes that doesn't always equal success live. I think they sang a song together on one of his Christmas CDs, I believe.
But it turned out beautifully. :cry:

5. "'Our chemistry surprisingly really, really worked,'
:cry::)

"Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli Brought 'Heavy Emotion' To Grammy Duet For Haiti"

'Our chemistry surprisingly really, really worked,' she says of the duo's performance of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water.'

By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway

"The versatile Mary J. Blige has collaborated with an array of stars in her career, from MCs like Jay-Z to legends like Elton John, but the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul found herself surprised to be collaborating with an opera star at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Blige and Andrea Bocelli took the stage during the Grammy telecast to sing Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," dedicated to the people of Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck the country.

"Our chemistry surprisingly really, really worked because we have heavy emotion, period, for our music and for Haiti," Blige told MTV News after the performance. "It was just genius of David Foster and Ron Fair to come up with the music bed that they did for this song. And the song is genius, 'cause that's what we're acting as — we are their bridge, Haiti's bridge over troubled water. It's a no-brainer after that."

The stirring rendition was certainly one of the highlights of the broadcast. Blige and Bocelli stepped onstage after an introduction by Wyclef Jean, himself a Haitian native.

The tune, like her effort during the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon, will be available for digital download and proceeds will benefit organizations dedicated to relief for the ravaged island. Blige recently spoke with MTV News and emphasized the need for continued aid to Haiti.
