I am annoyed, but not surprised
at members of the Democratic Party from the Senate down, who are simply working to undermine the Democratic Party and hurt their electoral chances. Seen all too often on boards like DU P and elsewhere. It was easier in opposition, you did not have to defend, you only had to oppose. You did not need to accept the consequences of governing, primarily the need to choose priorities and the art of compromise.

All policy statements were wonderful, because they never needed to be implemented.
All tax plans never damaged international confidence, because again, they were never going to be implemented.
Ideas to reform schools could be rejected, because they were not pure enough. Never mind the children who lose out as a result of an education system that fails them.

They may have claimed to have hated the Bush years, but they knew where they stood, in opposition. If they have their way, we will see them all at the front of the barricades protesting the policies of a Republican Congress and a President Palin, wondering again, why did the good times end?

2. It is absolutely insane, isn't it?
There was a thread in GD a day or two ago saying "now that we've seen how powerful Sarah Palin and far too many Repubs are becoming, can we PLEASE stop the bitter infighting, the nit-picking and the tearing down of our elected officials and actually try to UNITE behind our President and Congress and get things done for this country?"

Do you know this person was SKEWERED?? Unrec'd to oblivion?? I could not believe it. Howls of "Democrats don't march in lockstep!" and "Obama told me to 'make me do it' and I'm going to hold his feet to the fire until he does EXACTLY what I want!" met the OP. The wimpy, un-American ideals of unity and solidarity are apparently ANATHEMA to too many people here. They would rather burn in flames and be thrown back to the sidelines with no power to change anything than join forces. And the fact that no one suggested that they not still work for change and for more progressive ideals but just tone down the irrational hate and the bickering was absolutely irrelevant. How are you supposed to work with people like this?? As one smart poster here said, "these folks aren't angry that they aren't being heard, they're angry that they aren't being OBEYED."

It's a wonder of wonders that anyone would want to run for national office under the Democratic banner in this country. When your "supporters" turn on you damn near as fast as your detractors, why would you put yourself through that hell, no matter how qualified you may be??

3. To be honest I am more than annoyed.
It is approaching anger for me and I have always considered myself to be politically liberal. The temper tantrums being thrown by some are sickening.
